Creating Your Own Club Newsletter
Your club can create a newsletter each month to update members on club, division, and district updates! The components of a newsletter is completely up to the newsletter editor and they can add as much information as they’d like. Here are some suggestions of what a newsletter should include:
● Cover Page
○ Month & Year of Publication
○ Volume __ Issue __
○ “[School Name] Key Club”
○ Key Club Logo(s)
○ Cover Photo
● Table of Contents Page
○ For easy navigation, it would be a great idea to number your pages and include
a Table of Contents page to list out where members can find certain information
on events, or contact information.
● Message(s) from officers
○ You can have one or more of your officers create monthly messages that
encourages your members to serve and also to update them or give them
information on upcoming events.
○ Your newsletter editor may even have a page to deliver a message to their
readers.
● Calendar
○ If your club utilizes a calendar of events, it would be very useful to include the
month’s calendar into the newsletter.
○ The calendar can include the dates of the next DCM’s, general meetings,
executive meetings, service project events, kiwanis events, and other events that
your club will be participating in on that month.
○ You may also include reminders on the same page.
● Articles and Visuals
○ This is where newsletter editors and historians have to collaborate.
○ The newsletter editor will ask members to write an article for an event which could
be at least 1 paragraph long describing what the event was about, what the
members were instructed to do and basically just reflect on it.
○ The historian will then provide visuals from that event to the editor to be put into
the newsletter.
While creating your newsletter, it’s also important to keep in mind the Graphic Standards which
can be found on the cyberkey!
